6 Things You Must Consider Before You Buy A Skincare Product

Your skincare routine is as effective as the skincare product you use.

Simple!

When you use the right products on your skin, your skin takes on a unique glow. But when you use the wrong skincare product, your skin becomes a home to different kinds of blemishes.

Let me begin by asking…

Do you know the basic skincare products every woman should have?

There are some skincare products you must always have, if you are truly serious about taking care of your skin. Here they are:

  1. Cleanser
  2. Toner
  3. Eye cream
  4. Moisturizer
  5. Skin treatment serum
  6. Sunscreen
  7. Exfoliator

These products are very important to your skin’s journey to becoming perfect.

Though it is important that you get these skincare products, it is more important that you get the right skincare products.

So, whenever you go shopping for skincare products, there are some factors you should consider before choosing a specific product.

Together, we will be exploring these factors.

Let’s begin.

Consider these factors before buying your skincare products:

1. Your skin type

This is the first and most important thing to consider before buying a skincare product.

Why?

If you buy a skincare product that does not go well with your skin type, you cause more damage to your skin than you can imagine.

You are to buy products made specifically for your skin type.

For example, if you have an oily skin and you buy a moisturizer with occlusive ingredients, you are setting your skin up to be a dwelling ground for acne.

On the other hand, if you have dry skin, occlusive ingredients are great for your skin. They complement your skin’s natural oil and keep it hydrated.

But first, do you know your skin type?

If you don’t, there is no reason to worry. Click here to learn all you need to know about identifying and caring for your skin type.

Need a cleanser that will work for your specific skin type? Then you should definitely get the new BeauCrest African Black Soap.
We spent a lot of time and money researching, consulting and testing to ensure it works for ALL skin types, whether dry, oily, normal, combined or sensitive

2. Why you are buying the skincare product

There are different reasons we shop for skincare products.

You can buy a skincare product for the usual skincare routine or you might be buying it to treat a skin problem.

For example, it doesn’t make sense buying a sunscreen when what you need at that point is something to clear off acne from your skin (unless you’re prone to sunburn too).

To get a solution, you must first identify the problem. Ask yourself; “why do I want a skincare product?” The answer will help you decide which to go for.

Each skincare product has a specific function(s). And that is why you need to know why you need it, so you can buy a product that can satisfy your skin needs.

3. The ingredients

These are very important also.

In fact, the main reason you need to first know your skin type is to know whether the ingredients in the product are suitable for your skin type.

The ingredients of a product equal the product itself.

Read the ingredient list and make sure that your skin doesn’t react negatively to any of the skincare ingredients.

You don’t want to buy a product that will cause allergic reactions.

Don’t be intimidated by the scientific names. Research what each ingredient is and what it does, especially if the company don’t tell you the function of each ingredient on their website.

Seems like hard work, right?

But it is a small price to pay to ensure you don’t buy a product that will wreck your skin.

It is advisable that you out for ingredients that are harmless to the skin. if you want a safer route, go natural.

Do you need an 100% safe product with all natural ingredients? Then go for the new BeauCrest African Black Soap.
It’s 100% organic and 100% plant-based.
Yet, it does more wonders in giving you a spotless skin than all popular chemical-based soaps combined.

4. Customer reviews and testimonials

This is the only way you can be sure that a product works.

If you are looking to buy a specific product, go online and read reviews. It is essential to know what users of the product have to say.

Note that; no matter how good a skincare product is, it might not work for everyone. This is because our skins are individually unique.

But a good skincare product will work for majority of its users. (This is why at BeauCrest, we aim for a balance of products that work for various skin types.)

If a larger percentage of users are complaining about the product you want to buy, that should be a warning that it might not be the best product for you.

Truthfully, you can’t be 100% sure a product will go well with your skin unless you start using it. But reviews and testimonials will help you make an informed decision about the product.

5. Your budget

First thing I need you to understand is; the price of a skincare product doesn’t determine whether it would work or not. What matters most is that the product works, whether cheap or expensive.

This is why you should check out user reviews before buying a product, to know if it works or not.

What’s more important here is the money you have at hand anyway. What’s your budget like? Let it guide you in your purchase.

If you cannot afford a great product now because of price, don’t worry, someday you would. And if you have the money, definitely go for it.

6. What your dermatologist has to say

If you are having trouble deciding which skincare product to go for, ask your dermatologist for help.

Your dermatologist should know your skin type, skin history and skin problems (unless it’s your first time). So, it is easier for him/her to prescribe a product that best suits your skin.

Conclusion

It is a crime for a lady to not have, at least, the basic skincare products. Your skin NEEDS to be cared for.

However, you cannot wake up one morning and decide to buy just any skincare product. It requires making an informed decision.

And this is why you need to put the factors I listed above in mind whenever you go shopping for a new skincare product.

If you have any questions, leave it in the comments and I will be glad to answer.

Cheers to safe skincare!

    1. Hi Mary,
Glad to hear you’re impressed with the soap and it’s drying off your pimples. Not to worry, with time the black spots too will clear off. And hope you don’t press or peel your pimples…that can cause black spots on its own.

And finally, what do you mean by “an upgrade”? Kindly explain better…
