5 Fun Things to Make Your Skin Glow This Christmas

Let me begin by saying MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

We all know that this is the period of celebration.

You know the drill.

Lots of chicken and rice, new clothes and shoes…with everyone trying to out dress the other.

For some people, its going to be just eating and drinking while others will spend almost the whole day in the kitchen. Some will be out all day while others will stay indoors.

Anyways, however Christmas turns out for you, you need to be conscious of your skin’s health on this special day. Do not worry, I am not going to bore you with a skin care routine to follow or things you should or shouldn’t do.

Today, we will explore how you can have fun and at the same time, take good care of your skin. So, get yourself settled. This promises to be an interesting read.

  1. Balance it up!

We all know that the major highlight of today is the Christmas food!

Whatever you do today will not seem complete without a bowl of hot rice and fried chicken. I will not bore you with the fact that fried and greasy foods are not good for your skin (at least not today). Because who am I kidding? Even I will eat it!

However, you need to be smart about this. The key is creating a balance.

While you have the mouthwatering dish on one side of the table, make sure that there is a salad bowl at the other end. We do not need a scientist to tell us that vegetables help to keep the skin fresh and healthy.

Even if you do not like vegetables, try them out today. Trust me, they won’t kill you.

Also, you also need a bowl of fruit salad. Get pineapple, apples, water melon, cucumber etc. in the mix. Let these fruits replenish your skin with the nutrients it needs to keep glowing.

  1. Go nuts on movies

I am sure you are wondering how on earth seeing a movie helps your skin.

Now, watching a movie on a huge screen does absolutely nothing to keep your skin healthy. But what you are forgetting is that half the time you are in the movie theatre, you are chewing or nibbling on something. That is where the twist comes in.

Usually when you go to the movies, the easiest snacks to get are popcorn, hotdogs or shawarma. And if we are not deceiving ourselves, those are not really healthy for our skin. But before you start pouting, there is good news.

Why not try something new? Instead of a bowl of popcorn, get yourself a bag of nuts. They are easy to pop in your mouth, they taste nice and here’s the best part; they are very nutritious. They reduce cholesterol level, provide you with vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids and so on.

You can try out cashew nuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, or peanuts. So, while you are giving yourself a treat by seeing a movie, you are also giving your skin a treat.

  1. Go shopping

This has got to be the best part of Christmas.

Buying new things for both yourself and your loved one is fulfilling. The smell of new fabric, the gentle swipe of credit cards and the feeling of satisfaction you get coming out of the store with shopping bags. That’s the dream!

I know the question on your mind. And yet again, the thrill of shopping doesn’t help your skin… but shopping for skin care products does.

One of the best gifts you can give to yourself this Christmas is a skincare kit for a complete daily skin care routine.

So, go shopping and while you are it, get yourself a cleanser or soap, toner, moisturizers, anti-acne cream, sunscreen, eye cream and an exfoliating cream.

Trust me, these beauties are worth every penny!

  1. Make your own spa

This is very exciting (at least, for me).

Treating your body to a full spa experience is divine. But it is more fun to make your own spa. It definitely wouldn’t be the same with a professional spa experience, but it will be just as refreshing. And you will be trying out something new too.

This is what you need to do:

First, you need to give yourself a long soak in a bathtub. You can put on relaxing music and light some candles. You can also get a tray of fruits to enjoy while you are at it.

After you are done with that, treat your self to a facial steam i.e. lean over a bowl of hot water and cover your head over the bowl with a towel to trap in the steam. Do that for about 10 minutes.

Then apply your exfoliating cream. Rinse your body in a shower. Apply moisturizer and then face masks.

Your feet also deserve tender care. Treat yourself to a foot soak. After that, use some foot scrubs, and then pumice stone to scrub off dead skin. Apply a feet lotion.

As you can see, making your own spa is not a big deal. It’s double advantage for you; you get to take care of your skin and at the same time, you do not have to spend so much to get it done.

  1. Move your body

Yes! you heard me right. Move your body. I know that Christmas can be very busy especially for women. So, when I say, move your body, this doesn’t include body movements while you are cooking or running errands. That’s just stress!

I mean take time out to exercise but in a fun way. You do not have to do the usual, boring exercise routine. But you have to make conscious efforts to move your body.

So, this is what you can do. You can dance. You could play catch, hide and seek or whatever active game you like with family and friends. You can also decide to take a walk after the day’s job; just you and bae.

Whatever you do, just gbe body e (move your body)!

Exercise makes you look radiant and help to keep your skin glowing. So yes, you need to move your body. 15-30 minutes will do just fine. And make sure you have fun.

In conclusion,

This Christmas has to be different. We are going to have fun the skincare way.

So, while you get yourself nice things, also, pamper your skin with nice things. Remember, the key is; whatever you do has to keep your skin healthy and at the same time has to be fun.

So, cook those delicious meals, put on those nice clothes and heels, wear makeup, go out and have fun. But don’t leave your beautiful skin out.

Once again; MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I would like to hear from you. If you have fun skincare suggestions for this season, do not hesitate to drop them in the comments. Also, let me know what Christmas is going to be like for you…
