How Long Does It Take for Your Skin to be Free from Acne?

How long does it take for acne to go away? When will I be free from acne?

These are questions women ask me very frequently.

Many of us started experiencing acne at puberty, thanks to hormonal changes. However, only a few women are lucky enough to stop battling acne after puberty. Many women have acne way into their adulthood.

So, it is not surprising that many women ask this question.

Today, I am going to answer that question but first, let’s start from the foundation of the problem.

Why do I have acne?

Knowing exactly what causes acne to appear on your skin plays a significant role in getting rid of it.

It is very simple. Once you know what is causing it, you can avoid those factors or try to manage them. The result is reduced outbreaks on your skin.

Here are some factors that can cause acne on your skin:

  1. Hormonal changes
  2. Genetics
  3. Skin type, especially acne-prone skin
  4. Using the wrong skincare product for your skin type
  5. Unhealthy diet
  6. Not enough sleep
  7. Bad makeup habits
  8. Going to bed with your makeup on
  9. Exposure to sun rays
  10. Exposure to extreme weather conditions, etc.

How do I know which of these factors are responsible for my acne?

I know it is a long list and it might be hard figuring out which of them is causing your acne.

The first thing you need to do is pay attention to your skin. How long does It take for a new pimple to form? Is there an activity you do that triggers acne? Is there a skincare ingredient you are allergic to?

Getting answers to these questions can help you figure out why.

If you have tried everything and you still do not know why, you need to talk to a dermatologist. Your dermatologist would make you take some tests, ask for your skincare history, and help you figure out why your acne is persistent.

Now, to the main gist of the day…

How long does it take for my skin to be free from acne?

The truth is there is no standard duration for how long acne can last on your skin.

You might have a friend that gets acne for just a few days, and another who doesn’t bother about acne at all, and yet, you have acne sit on your skin for weeks. You want to know why? Everyone’s skin is different and our skins react differently.

Nobody knows how long acne will last for each person.

Like I said earlier, acne is supposed to go away at the end of puberty but it doesn’t happen that way for everybody.

So there is no definite answer to that question.

But before you feel disappointed, there is good news – with the right treatment, you can totally get rid of acne.

Now to how you can completely get rid of acne.

  1. Get the right treatment for your skin

For some people, just living a healthy lifestyle gives them glowing and flawless skin. But not everybody is that lucky.

Some people have to make frequent visits to the esthetician to remove their acne. You want to know why it seems like yours is taking forever to go? It is because you have not gotten the right treatment for you.

I have met women who have tried several skincare products and yet their acne is still there. Sometimes, it could be because you are using the wrong products. Other times, it might be that just using a skincare product is not enough.

Your skin might require a more robust skincare routine – prescriptions from your dermatologist, a good skincare product, skin therapy, consistent daily skincare routines, a healthy lifestyle, and good skincare habits.

If it seems like you have tried everything and it is not working, go see a dermatologist, it might take a while but eventually, you will get the right treatment that works for you.

  1. Strictly follow a skincare routine

This is very important.

Your skincare routine is what you do every day to take care of your skin. It helps to protect your skin from damage that might happen to your skin as you go through your day.

At night, your skincare routine helps to repair whatever damage might have happened to your skin during the day. It also helps your skin heal while you sleep at night.

So, this is something you should take seriously, especially if your acne is taking forever to leave.

To achieve this, you need a cleanser or beauty soap, moisturizer, toner, sunscreen, anti-acne serum, and eye cream.

Every week, you should exfoliate your skin twice or thrice, steam your face and treat your skin to a deep cleansing facial mask.

  1. Treat your skin like a baby

You should learn to prioritize your skin and pamper it.

Stay away from anything that can cause damage to it. Start new and healthy skincare habits. Exercise, eat healthy and balanced meals, do not smoke, take a break from makeup, do not use comedogenic skincare products, know your skin allergies and what causes them, stay away from sugary, processed, and greasy foods, etc.

Just make sure that whatever you do does not harm your skin in any way. Instead, do things that help your skin become healthy, acne-free, and glowing.

Now over to you…
